Have you ever sat at a table with family or friends, feasting and laughing and telling stories, and noticed that your body wasn't the only thing being fed? What is it that makes those moments around a table so special? What kind of preparation does it take to have the kind of feast that fills your heart as much as it fills your stomach?
In the first week of this series leading up to Thanksgiving, Jason Miller reminds us that feasting means resting. Every Biblical feast calls for rest. You don’t work on a feast day, because a feast is a celebration of how God has blessed you, not how you have attained things for yourself. In feasting we don’t earn; we receive. And the communion feast is the ultimate feast of rest, calling us to rest and receive the overflowing grace of God.
